Dear Representative:
Are Texas Republicans giving away leadership seats in the House by awarding Committee Chairmanships to Democrats? I feel betrayed to know our hard-earned Republican Majority would be thrown away like that. No wonder it is so hard to pass strong conservative legislation with a Republican majority in both chambers.
As a Texas voter, I expect Republican House Representatives to support Republican Chairmanships ONLY and a House Speaker who values the same! Please confirm: 1) you will not be supporting Dade Phelan as Speaker since he plans to appoint Democrat chairs, and 2) you will support a ban on Democrat Committee Chairs in the Texas House.
I ask you to pray about your allegiance as you enter the 88th legislative session:
- 1st allegiance to God - be honorable and a man/woman of your word
- 2nd allegiance to your family - honor their sacrifice to get you elected as a Republican
- 3rd allegiance to your constituents - be the Republican they elected you to be. Voters do not want you giving away your power in any form
- Supporting Republican ONLY chairs and a House Speaker who values the same is courageous and the best way you can honor your commitment to Republican voters
- Supporting Democrat chairs or a House Speaker that does the same IS a betrayal to your voters and the platform you were elected on
